He attended Murray State College, earning a Masters Degree in Industrial Arts. The majority of his career was spent as an instructor for twenty years at North High School, and ten years at Reitz Memorial High School.
Throughout our marriage, there were numerous occasions when we were approached by young men, reminding him of their names, and thanked him for their successful careers in the electrical, architect, and building trades. Such compliments were an explanation of Jerrys' talent.
We were blessed to enjoy twenty retirement years of travel, dancing, and spending the winters in sunny Florida. We learned to ballroom dance every step along the way. In the process, we met some of the dearest, devoted friends we cherish to this day.
Jerrys' personal request was always to be cremated, and insisted there be no services. He spoke quite often during his five years of several critical illnesses, that his goodbye should never be in a room full of people speaking of "old times" - "what used to be"- and tears. It simply wasn't his way.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Sherrill. Two loving step-daughters, Kelley (Jeff) Hinton and Kris Van Winkle, one older brother, Gene (Norma) Boyd in Waterloo, Illinois and a cousin, Roger Rauch from Modesto, California.

Special appreciation to the staff of River Pointe Health Campus for their dedication and care. The Heart to Heart Hospice Team was remarkable.Thank God for the gifts of Dr. Mark Browning and Dr. Karl Sash. Their medical genius and hearts full of kindness were always in place.

Jerry requested that memorial remembrances be sent to: Evansville Wartime Museum, PO Box 6510, Evansville, IN 47719.
Goodbye my precious dancer. Thank you for being the perfect partner.
